4 Cultural Differences (Portuguese Vs. German) – TES #20

True Erasmus Stories (TES) – Episode 20 – 4 Cultural Differences (Portuguese vs. German)

As part of any exchange the confrontation with cultural differences many times has a big impact on us. This week I´m talking about 4 cultural differences I see between Portuguese and Germans since I´m here. Mainly Punctuality, Enjoying Life, Bureaucracy and Food. Please keep in mind that cultural differences are something wonderful that can teach us many things about ourselves and this is just a piece of entertainment not a fixed analysis of cultures 😉

Regarding the one about the city: the bureaucracy was so stupid when I went in Erasmus to Karlsruhe. You are so right.

About the vegetarianism: Maybe next time try Lisbon. Much more options.

PS: I am a chubby Portuguese guy and I actually got more weight/time with German food that I got all my time in Portugal.

Potato and rice is a killer… I struggle with it every time. And I am Portuguese!

I think it depends a lot. I’m Portuguese and I arrived on time. and in Lisbon you have the bus system that shows you the time that you have to wait (sometimes is wrong for one or two minutes)
Live in Portugal is the best thing in the world ahah

I always thought I was different ’cause I’m always on time for meetings, but my friends keep getting late all the time, I get so mad but I’m already used to it. I’m skinny because I never eat all the french fries and rice that they put on my plate! ahahah

1# My family and I try to come as soon as possible cuz we hate to keep people waiting. To a point where I thought it a cultural thing.
    Until I visited Portugal.

I am Portuguese and I also freak out with people being late. I am the sort to show up at least 10 min early!
